In 2007, working in international waters , Odyssey Marine Exploration secretly recovers a king’s ransom from the deep: seventeen tons of silver and gold coins. It is the largest deepwater treasure find in history with an estimated value of half a billion dollars. Odyssey registers a claim in US Federal Court, but it’s immediately contested. Spain is convinced the treasure comes from the MERCEDES, a Spanish frigate blown up in 1804. And they want it back. They impound Odyssey’s flagship, the EXPLORER, and throw its American captain in jail. Who will get final possession of the Black Swan and half a billion dollars in treasure?
